In Japan, each season of the year brings us a series of traditions, which are passed from generation to generation. One of them is the Natsumatsuri or Summer Festival. Festival del Verano.

This millennial tradition is based mainly on thanking the gods for good harvests and ensuring that next year prosperity is achieved, taking the offerings to the temples. This tradition spread itself around the world. Nowadays, the elements of celebrating life and enjoying everyday life have been added.

Summer is characterized in Japan by being hit by storms and natural disasters, therefore these holidays are celebrated to ask that all these don't happen at the same time for the health of all.

In Encarnacion it started with the purpose of transmitting our tradition to the entire community since the 80s and after a few years of recess due to the change of location, it has been restarted with full force and growing every year.

In this activity the Taiko group acts on the yagura and the participants of the event dance around it. Different traditional games are performed such as fishing for kingyo (little colored fish), rings and others. Typical Japanese foods are sold in this event, being a beautiful party to share with the family. At midnight the artificial light show is held as a great attraction. Today it is a long-awaited festival for all Incarnaceans and it usually takes place at the end of February or the beginning of March.
